About One Book New Jersey
Be a part of One Book New Jersey 2004, and find out!
One Book New Jersey is an exciting program that libraries
and their partners across the state will promote – again – in
2004.
The goal is to bring people together through literature by encouraging
them to read the same book and participate in discussions and other events
centered on that book. OBNJ celebrates reading, literacy and all that New
Jersey's libraries do.
OBNJ is presented by the New Jersey Library Association’s Public Relations Committee and Children’s Services and Young Adult Sections, in collaboration with the New Jersey State Library and the Secretary of State.
Local and statewide events will occur between January and April of 2004,
with major events planned for National Library Week, April 18 through 24.
Promotional materials, marketing and “how-to-do-it” resource
guides will
make participation easy for libraries and their partner organizations.
The Pine Barrens, by New Jersey's own John McPhee,
is the Adult Selection;
The Body of Christopher Creed, by Carol Plum-Ucci,
also a native New Jerseyan, is the Young Adult Selection;
Because of Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo,
is the Middle Reader's Selection;
and
How The Cat Swallowed Thunder, by Lloyd Alexander, is the Read-To-Me Selection.
This web site will be updated frequently between January and April 2004 to provide information about the program. Input from the library community and from the public is very welcome. Contact OBNJ organizers at [email protected]
