The
Roxbury Public Library in Succasunna had a very successful "
Winn-Dixie" Party on February 28. In addition to party food, such as egg salad sandwiches, pickles, litmus lozenges, dump punch, we set up four stations of activities. One was a table where our visiting therapy dog, Lacey, greeted guests and "paw-tographed" free books (with the help of her owner and a paw stamp!). The second station had cups, dirt and peppermint plant seeds so that "Wait-and-See" trees could be planted. Each plant went home with a little instruction sheet. The third station had pictures from the C
olor A Smile Organization (
www.colorasmile.org). These pictures will be mailed to the organization which will distribute them to patients, shut-ins, senior citizens and other individuals who need a smile. The fourth station had family trivia games such as a crossword puzzle and a "Name That Dog" quiz. I found these in the "Online Activities" link of this great Dog Lovers site
www.mce.k12tn.net/dogs/index.htm. We gave out New Jersey pencils and doggie bookmarks for prizes. We were having such a great time that people stayed past the hour planned!
* Thanks to Diane Sebastian, Youth Services Librarian for our very first Success Story!
As you have events of any type, please note the time, date, location, the names of librarians and special guests, the number of participants, etc. . . . and any information you think would be of interest to others involved with the program, and email that information to OBNJ
at [email protected]
Please do not include the names of any children involved in any programs. But please
DO send photos of everyone involved!
We hope to show all of your OBNJ Success Stories
to the entire New Jersey library community!
